Pagerank

20140917 Today's development of techonology.

Today's expression==========================================================

- I will sign the contract on condition that delivery of goods is on time. you deliver goods on time.
- Personally, I believe human beings have the right to equal opportunities.

Python
- Source code does not declare the types of variables or parameters or methods.

- When a Python file is run directly, the special variable "__name__" is set to "__main__". Therefore, it's common to have the boilerplate if __name__ ==... shown above to call a main() function when the module is run directly, but not when the module is imported by some other module.

-We also presented 2 different ways to repeat strings, using the + operator which is more user-friendly, but * also works because it's Python's "repeat" operator, meaning that '-' * 10 gives '----------', a neat way to create an onscreen "line."

- We hinted that * works faster than +, the reason being that * calculates the size of the resulting object once whereas with +, that calculation is made each time + is called.

- One unusual Python feature is that the whitespace indentation of a piece of code affects its meaning.
- A logical block of statements such as the ones that make up a function should all have the same indentation

- The funny thing in Python ... this code compiles and runs fine so long as the name at runtime is not 'Guido'. Only when a run actually tries to execute the repeeeet() will it notice that there is no such function and raise an error.
- In this way, various Python modules can name their functions and variables whatever they want, and the variable names won't conflict -- module1.foo is different from module2.foo.

- You can find the documentation of all the Standard Library modules and packages at http://docs.python.org/library.

How to analyze source codes on vim on Linux

How to analyze source codes on vim on Linux

1. installing vim, ctags, cscope

-cscope install :
http://iamroot.org/wiki/doku.php?id=%EC%8A%A4%ED%84%B0%EB%94%94:cscope_%EC%82%AC%EC%9A%A9%EB%B2%95

2. Source Explorer, NERD Tree, Tag List

3.~/.vimrc

I am too lazy.

A lot of things are coming to my mind, these days.

A lot of things are coming to my mind, these days.

When I happened to hear that it must be getting harder than before when you study or research something in a deep, it made me understand why my surrounding problems hurts me.

Now, I really feel that.

In fact, I am not sure it is only depending on my attitude towards things.
I know sometimes I am a kind of a person being pessimist, but, you know, the more I am greedy for my academic things, the more it is stressful.
They would guess my feeling when people are in the academic field in Master's degree or Ph.D.

It has been around my head for more than 6 years. The starting time was probably when I decide to study hard to be a top student in Kyung Hee University, my undergraduate school.

The most intolerable thing is that I could not even guess I would be satisfied with what I will have done after getting Ph,D or what I have really wanted to do.

Shit, I must respect my professor!
Crossed fingers.

Who know the future that I might be a philosopher who can write and say his thought in English fluently?

Right Before Korean Thanksgiving Day

Right Before Korean Thanksgiving Day

Last night, before meeting my friend at midnight I did many things for what to do on holiday, Chuseok. In detail, I installed 'Hadoop cluster' system through Putty, free ssh program, on server which is in my lab. Still, I was really stupid. Actually, to set up the environment to connect server through putty, I learned many thing to do it via a lot of blogs. However, I changed a port without no definite idea. That's because I felt like I had to change the port 80 to 22 when I saw this message from Hadoop 'localhost of which a port is 22 cannot connect to server'

In fact, I should not have done it because my school, KAIST, already blocked a port 22 to block a would-be malicious user connecting to school's server. I was just out of brain. Now, I cannot connect my server and cannot do anything to learn and analyze codes of Hadoop. It was my plan on holiday.

Damn........

Thus, I set my heart to study a textbook of Hadoop just formally.

Chapter 1. Meet Hadoop

The trend is for every individual's data footprint to grow, but perhaps more important, the amount of data generated by machines will be even greater than that generated by people. Machine logs, RFID readers, sensor networks, vehicle GPS traces, retail transactions - all of theses contribute to the growing mountain of data.

Although the storage capacities of hard drives have increased massively over the years, access speeds - the rate at which data can be read from drives - have not kept up. The obvious way to reduce the time is to read from multiple disks at once. Imagine if we had 100 drives, each holding one hundredth of the data. Working in parallel, we could read the data in under two minutes. Plus, we can imagine that the user of such a system would be happy to share access in return for shorter analysis times, and statistically, that their analysis jobs would be likely to be spread over time.

There are more to being able to read and write data in parallel to or from multiple disks, though

Problems
1) hardware failure in the case that you start using many pieces of hardware, the chance that one will fails is fairly high. A common way of avoiding data loss is through replication.
This is how RAID works, for instance, although Hadoop's file system takes a slightly different approach.
2) most analysis tasks need to be able to combine the data in some way, and data read from one disks may need to be combined with the data from any of the other 99 disks. MapReduce provides a programming model that abstract the problem from disk read and writes, transforming it into a computation over sets of keys and values.

In a nutshell, this is what Hadoop provides: a reliable shared storage and analysis system. The storage is provided by HDFS and analysis by MapReduce.

MapReduce is a batch query processor, and the ability to run an ad hoc query against your whole data set and get the results in a reasonable time is transformative.

Why can't we use databases with lots of disks to do large-scale batch analysis?
Why is MapReduce needed?

- Seek time is improving more slowly than transfer rate. Seeking is the process of moving the disk's head to a particular place on the disk read or write data. It characterizes the latency of a disk operation, whereas the transfer rates corresponds to a disk's bandwidth.

If the data access patterns is dominated by seeks, it will take longer to read or write large portions of the dataset than streaming through it, which operates at the transfer rate.
On the other hand, for updating a small proportion of records in a database, a traditional B-Tree, RDMS standing for Rational Database Management System (limited by the rate it can perform seeks.) works well, whereas for updating the majority of a database, a B-Tree is less efficient than MapReduce, which users Sort/Merge to rebuild the database.

Another difference between RDBMS and MapReduce is the amount of structure in the data sets on which they operate. The realm of the RDBMS is Structured data organized into entities that have a defined format, such as XML documents or datbase tables performing a certain scheme. Oppositely, Unstructured data of MapReduce dose not have any defined set and works well such as plain text and image data because it is designed to interpret the data at processing time. In other words, the input keys and values for MapReduce are not intrinsic properties of the data, but they are chosen by the person analyzing the data.

Compatibility: three aspects to consider when you move from one release to another.
1) API compatibility - user programs may need to be modified and recompiled.
2) Data compatibility - concerning persistent data and metadata formats
3) Wire compatibility - there are two types of clients who connects with server via wire protocols such as RPC and HTTP. 1) External clients 2) Internal clients

How to make authorized_key from ssh, meaning it can log in Server without password

How to make authorized_key from ssh, meaning it can log in Server without password as long as we have public key.

How to do it
>sudo apt-get install ssh
>ssh-keygen -t rsa
>ls -al ~/.ssh/    ( Checking id_rsa.pub exists )
>cat  id_rsa.pub >> authorized_keys
>sudo chmod 700 ~/.ssh
>sudo chmod 700 ~/.ssh/id_rsa
>sudo chmod 700 ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

Now, we should do change a port relating to Server because a port, '20', used by remote client is blocked by KAIST.

>sudo vim /etc/ssh/sshd_config
>In it, check
>Chang the Port and PasswordAuthentication Yes-> No

>sudo service ssh restart

But just for your information, if you want to connect in Windows' putty,
you should convert (id_rsa) to (.ppk) extension file.

It has a lot of work.
Actually, before I wrote this paper, I did many things wrong.
That means I turned around a right way to do this.

Download puttygen.exe on Website / http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html /

Then open this program > import a key from id_rsa made by ssh-keygen -t rsa
> Save a private key > by using this key, now we can log in Server through Putty
> How to do it? > Open putty > SSH > Auth > 'Browse' the private file > Connect!

My first essay in September, 2010

In my life, 'Psychopath' I respect at times

The most important things in my life is that we compete with myself, so we should win our timid mind that can disturb our future.

To do so, I think that we have to become 'Psychopath' from time to time. Most people consider 'Psychopath' as negative meaning. This opinion is fact, I don't think so that way.

There are more reasons why, buy I will just talk about some reasons of them. Let me explain why.

In my experience, I read a certain book relevant to Psychology before. At this point of time, I am sorry to you that I do not remember a book's name. These reading passage of book described 'Psychopath' as positive meaning. To be specific, psychopath that we consider as negative meaning is personality that cannot distinguish a diverse range of emotions, such as being sad, happy, gloomy, and so on. Thus, people often think psychopath can raise many crime and unpleasant things.

Mentor talking about something important 0831 at night

Well, you do not know my mentor.
Actually, for me when I was in undergraduate, my father was a mentor for me.
In fact, I could say my mentor was really willing to changing me a lot.
That's why we got a bunch of troubles after talking about challenge things.

However, after graduating Kyung Hee University, FYI as a top student in my department, I was totally independent from my father. It was good for me to definitely stay alone.
Well, the truth is I have been independent from my parents since I got into military service after I was in the first year of  Kyung Hee University.

Now, in the period of doing Master's Degree in Kaist I feel like I respect two of people as mentors in my life; one person who is my senior two times, the other person who I knew in an academic video.

Okay, cut to the chase.

According to him, a firm has a limitation of doing good things alone. When the firm cooperate with the other company, the result, the quality of goods and service would be better then that of doing alone. It means that it can be more competitive.

"What do you think is Business alliance?"

To achieve this, we should have negotiating power!.
In fact, there are many exceptions like its size, its kind, its period and so on among partnership, so contract sometimes disappear right away or last long.

The most important thing between partnerships is all the companies win.

p.s) bringing English material from my home.

Thing are goin on 0831

My first vacation in the period of Master's degree is almost done.
It just has two days to left.

Actually, I suddenly watched a random video about Google's employee working in silicon valley. I got inspiration from there. You know the word, 'inspiration" is always Good!

I had something that came to mind while watching the video.
I realized I changed a lot compared who I was in the second year of high school.
Well, I was really willing to try to enroll in the great university. That's why I did totally my best at that time. Plus, compared to who I was right after serving military service, I am definitely lazy of thinking or doing.

I've never thought I can being lazy for more than one year.
Now, I got this. I have been becoming lazy since I got into KAIST.

It seems very weird because I entered into the best school in Korea after I did my best before coming here. Still, my thought was just desperate.

However, the most important thing is that, you know, I do not regret this time.
the matter is just now, meaning the bright future is just depending on my attitude towards things surrounding me.
